Kiker, who spent the first six weeks of the season in extended spring training, is 3-2 with a 2.25 ERA, 34 H and 58/17 K/BB in 44 IP. The 2006 first-round pick seems poised to move relatively quickly for a high school product.

The Rangers were extra careful with Kiker last year, limiting the left-hander to 20 starts and 96 innings. Still, he developed the sore shoulder this spring anyway. He’ll pitch for high-A Bakersfield once healthy.
