Royals acquired RHP Kendal Volz from the Red Sox in the Mike Aviles deal.
The former ninth-round pick wasn’t ranked by Baseball America among the Red Sox’ top 30 prospects prior to the season, but he’s had a nice year at High-A in his first full season as a reliever, posting a 3.33 ERA and 56/12 K/BB ratio over 51 1/3 innings. He’s likely a couple years away from possibly helping out in the Royals’ pen.
