Frandsen, who is hitting .232/.306/.250 in 56 at-bats, will return next time Ray Durham gets hurt.

Frandsen’s two-run homer came off Scott Williamson in the ninth. His other two hits were doubles. Frandsen entered with just one extra-base hit in 63 at-bats this season.

An X-ray yesterday revealed two non-displaced fractures. The plan is for Frandsen to begin throwing and hitting within a couple of days. It sounds like he could be back as soon as his 15 days on the disabled list are up.

Awful timing for Frandsen. The 24-year-old was just recalled this week and he had a big game in his only start in place of Ray Durham going 3-for-5 with a homer. Tomas De La Rosa will take over utility duties.

Frandsen is beginning a fourth stint with the Giants after batting .210/.290/.226 in 62 at-bats during the first three. He should be up for good this time, but it would take a Ray Durham trade or an injury to Durham or Omar Vizquel to make him worth owning in NL-only leagues.

Frandsen, who has his jaw wired shut, says he feels no pain and hopes to return to the Giants by late September.

There’s no shortage of right-handed-hitting first basemen capable of beating up lefties, but the Giants haven’t collected any of them. As a result, Frandsen will serve as a backup infielder while Jose Vizcaino sees too much time at first base during Lance Niekro’s absence.

Frandsen went 0-for-6 in his latest stint with the Giants and is hitting .210/.290/.226 in 62 at-bats this season.

Frandsen doesn’t have any value even with this endorsement by Alou. He will never get enough at-bats with Ray Durham on the roster.

Frandsen went 5-for-29 with three strikeouts this spring in the Grapefruit League. The 29-year-old never had a shot at cracking the Phillies’ Opening Day roster.
