Depending on match-ups, Yost will use Leo Estrella, Luis Vizcaino, Valerio De Los Santos, Dan Kolb or DeJean to finish games. Estrella got the save Thursday.

If manager Ned Yost leaves Mike DeJean in middle relief for a while, Estrella would be the favorite for saves. He’s not a good bet for the long term, but he’s worthy of a short-term pickup.

Estrella’s in the majors for the first time since 2000, when he made two appearances for the Blue Jays. The 28-year-old right-hander had a 1.20 ERA in seven appearances for Indianapolis. He shouldn’t have any fantasy value.

Estrella had a 4.36 ERA in 58 appearances for the Brewers last season, but it didn’t look like he was going to make this year’s squad. He’ll probably bounce back and forth between the majors and the minors with the Giants.

Estrella had a 27.00 ERA in two appearances this season. If he clears waivers, he plans to accept an assignment to Triple-A Fresno.

Estrella is expected to again occupy a bullpen spot after posting a 4.36 ERA in 58 appearances last season. He shouldn’t have any fantasy value.

Manager Ned Yost has been true to his word of using a closer-by-committee. Dan Kolb and Mike DeJean had each worked two days in a row, so Estrella was the obvious choice tonight. He got the job done, walking one in a scoreless inning.

Mike DeJean isn’t losing his job just yet, but he was given the night off after throwing 29 pitches on Tuesday and 46 on Sunday. Estrella has been very effective since joining the Brewers at the end of April. With Curtis Leskanic gone and Luis Vizcaino still struggling, Estrella might be the favorite for saves if DeJean does lose his job. However, it’s not at all likely that he’ll continue to pitch this well.
