    Oliveros made 19 appearances at the big league level last season but will start 2012 in the minors. He will probably be one of the first relievers the Twins call up, though.

    It was reported earlier this month that Oliveros needed surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, but evidently the procedure was more complicated than that. The reliever will now be sidelined for most, if not all, of 2013.

    Oliveros earned the promotion by posting a 2.70 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 36 2/3 innings this year in the minor leagues. He’ll serve as a middle reliever for the Twins.
