Perdomo registered a rough 5.40 ERA and 51/46 K/BB ratio in 65 relief appearances this year for the Padres’ Triple-A affiliate in Tucson, Arizona. It’s doubtful he’ll find better luck in Minnesota’s system.

Perdomo has allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and seven walks over six innings with the Twins this year. The 28-year-old right-hander will provide relief depth down the stretch.

He’ll replace the injured Anthony Swarzak (shoulder) on the active roster. Perdomo, 28, had a solid 2.14 ERA and 61/18 K/BB ratio over 59 innings this season between Double-A New Britain and Triple-A Rochester. He’ll pitch in middle relief.

Rochester manager Gene Glynn is also joining the big league staff. The Twins may make a few more September call-ups later this week, but it’s just Perdomo and Escobar for now. Brian Dozier should be added soon.

Perdomo allowed five hits and issued seven walks in six innings during his three-week stay in the major leagues. The righty may be given another shot later this summer.

The Padres are hoping Perdomo will bring some consistency to the middle of their bullpen, which has been a bit shaky as of late. Perdomo, 26, had a 3.76 ERA as a reliever down on the farm.

San Diego wanted an additional position player with National League competition coming up. Durango has all sorts of speed, but his other skills have never developed. Durango has stolen 17 bases in 2010 for Portland, but he’s also been caught 10 times. He isn’t likely to draw enough playing time to have fantasy relevance in most formats, even with Scott Hairston and Kyle Blanks on the 15-day disabled list. He’s worth a look in deep NL-only leagues for the rogue stolen bases he could give you while up, however.

Perdomo was just called up from the minors on Saturday, but failed to make an appearance during his brief two-day stay with the big club. He was cleared to make room for outfielder Luis Durango, who is expected to be recalled later Monday.
