Angels purchased the contract of RHP Marcus Gwyn from Triple-A Salt Lake.
The 29-year-old Gwyn will be making his major league debut after posting a 2.78 ERA in 37 relief appearances for Salt Lake. He’ll be tried as a middle reliever.

The Angels have recalled Marc Gwyn from Triple-A Salt Lake.
A little bullpen depth with Scot Shields currently struggling isn’t a bad idea for the Halos, but don’t expect to see Gwyn used in any key situations.

The Angels optioned RHP Marc Gwyn to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.
With Erick Abyar coming off the DL, the Halos needed to farm someone out. Gwyn had made just one appearance since his recall on July 24, tossing one shutout inning on July 29, so clearly he wasn’t in great demand by the Angels.

Angels recalled RHP Marcus Gwyn from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Gwyn, who made his major league debut last month, will pitch in middle relief.

Angels optioned RHP Marc Gwyn to Triple-A Salt Lake.
The Angels used Gwyn us last night, letting him go three innings and give up four runs -- two earned -- in the rout of the Yankees.
  • KC Relief Pitcher
Marlins signed RHP Doug Waechter, RHP Joe Nelson, RHP Marcus Gwyn, RHP Tim Corcoran and RHP Bobby Keppel to minor league contracts and invited them to spring training.
Waechter made 13 minor league starts last season after returning from major shoulder surgery, and Nelson missed the whole year after having his shoulder operated. If healthy, Waechter could get a look at the back of the rotation at some point. He was 14-25 with a 5.62 ERA in 54 starts and six relief appearances for the Rays between 2003 and 2006.
  • AZ Starting Pitcher
Marlins reassigned RHP Gaby Hernandez, 1B Tagg Bozied, RHP Marcus Gwyn, C Brett Hayes and LHP Randall Williams to minor league camp.
Hernandez had a decent enough spring, posting a 4.15 ERA in 13 innings, but he’s still clearly fallen behind Chris Volstad on the depth chart. He’ll be a part of the rotation at Triple-A Albuquerque.
