Wilson has been removed from the Mariners’ 40-man roster to make room for lefty reliever Brennan Bernardino to be added to Seattle’s bullpen mix.

Wilson is sent down to make room for Ty France after France came off the injured list. The outfielder will be organizational depth for the remainder of 2022 and likely his career.

Wilson, 25, was batting .209/.336/.469 with 12 home runs and eight stolen bases through 59 games this season at the Triple-A level. He will be making his MLB debut whenever he first sees the field for Seattle.

The Mariners latest round of roster cuts include several big names with major-league experience including Paolo, Wojciechowski and Haggerty. All three will head to the minors, but will most likely get a chance in Seattle at some point relatively soon.

The M’s claimed Wilson off waivers in August but he never made it up to the minors. He’ll now have to play his way back onto the 40-man roster.

Wilson had been designated for assignment last week. The 24-year-old has posted a .822 OPS with 10 homers and 10 steals at the Triple-A level this season.

The Red Sox needed to free up a spot on the 40-man roster and Wilson proved to be the odd-man out. The 24-year-old has had a nice season at Triple-A Worcester, slashing .242/.370/.452 with 10 homers, 30 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 64 games. He could attract some interest on waivers.
