    Royals released 1B Matt Fields.
The 29-year-old is an 11-year minor league veteran and has never made it to the big leagues. He was hitting just .244/.314/.395 with four homers and 25 RBI in 53 games at Triple-A Omaha this season.

Single-A Charlotte’s Matt Fields homered three times in a doubleheader Wednesday.
The 23-year-old Fields has always been a big strikeout guy, but he’s taken it up a notch with a 49/4 K/BB ratio in 157 at-bats this season. While he does have nine homers and a respectable .261/.302/.490 line, he’s not much of a prospect.
