Matt Holliday (elbow sprain) began light running yesterday.
He hasn’t been ruled out for the season, but if he does play it won’t be until the very end.

An MRI revealed that Matt Holliday has a sprained left elbow.
It’s good news that surgery won’t be necessary, but Holliday could still miss the remainder of the season.

Manager Clint Hurdle said he plans to start Matt Holliday 3-4 times a week.
We’ll see. Holliday is worth holding on to in NL-only leagues, but if everyone is healthy in the Rockies’ outfield that’s a lot of time to give the youngster.

The Rockies are pleased with the progress Matt Holliday has made in the outfield.
''He’s gone from a moth to a butterfly,’' since he first arrived in Colorado, outfield coach Dave Collins said. Holliday is hitting .286 with seven homers and 17 RBI; his improved defense could keep him in a prominent role after the returns of Preston Wilson and Larry Walker.

In a contest the Rockies went on to win 6-4, Matt Holliday had a game-tying, broken-bat two-run homer in the eighth inning tonight against the Diamondbacks.
Holliday hit one 426-feet even though his bat snapped. He also had an RBI on a groundout earlier in the game.

Matt Holliday intends to continue his playing career in 2019, agent Scott Boras told reporters on Wednesday.
Holliday signed a minor league contract with the Rockies in late July and went on to bat .283/.415/.434 with two home runs in 25 regular-season games before appearing in four games for Colorado in the playoffs. 2019 would be his 16th season in Major League Baseball. He turns 39 years old in January.

Wild Card Game hero Tony Wolters is catching after Chris Iannetta caught the first two games. The full lineup looks like this: Charlie Blackmon CF, DJ LeMahieu 2B, Nolan Arenado 3B, Trevor Story SS, Holliday LF, Carlos Gonzalez RF, Ian Desmond 1B, Wolters C, German Marquez P.

Matt Holliday went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Holliday, 38, now boasts a .359/.479/.564 batting line with two homers and three RBI over 17 games since being reunited with the Rockies. He should continue to see at-bats against left-handers, but that arrangement doesn’t leave much room for relevance in mixed fantasy leagues.
