Miguel Olivo caught Bartolo Colon for the fourth time Tuesday and said they quickly are developing a rapport.
Sandy Alomar Jr. opened the season as the catcher for both Colon and Mark Buehrle, but that’s changing now. Olivo is getting the slight majority of the time behind of the plate and is beginning to do better offensively. Also, he stole his first base of the season last night and might begin to run more as he becomes comfortable. Olivo stole 29 bases in Double-A last season, so he has the potential to be an above average fantasy catcher over the rest of the season.

Miguel Olivo could miss two weeks with lower abdominal pain caused by kidney stones.
Jamie Burke will back up Sandy Alomar Jr. until Olivo returns.

Miguel Olivo was feeling better yesterday after a trip to a Mesa hospital Saturday to pass some kidney stones.
Olivo said doctors told him he still has one more stone to pass, but he thinks he’ll be back in the lineup sometime this week.

Miguel Olivo took batting practice Saturday as he recovers from a bruised right shoulder. He still appears to be a few days away from playing.
A DL trip hasn’t been ruled out, but it looks like he’ll probably resume playing before the end of the week.

White Sox manager Jerry Manuel wants to see the slumping Miguel Olivo work out his problems with hitting coach Greg Walker before returning him to the lineup.
Olivo is 0-for-10 with six strikeouts on the road trip. Sandy Alomar Jr. will continue to get the majority of the playing time until Manuel is again comfortable with Olivo.

The White Sox have decided to keep three catchers on their roster. Miguel Olivo and Josh Paul will both make the team.
Willie Harris wasn’t demoted to make room for Aaron Miles. Instead, he lost his roster spot because the White Sox are scared of losing Josh Paul. They shouldn’t be. Paul may not get even a single start until Sandy Alomar Jr. goes on the disabled list. Expect Olivo to get whatever playing time that doesn’t go to Alomar.

Miguel Olivo, who was in uniform for the Mariners last night, did not start against the Rangers.
Dan Wilson was behind the plate in Seattle’s 8-5 loss to Texas. Olivo is expected to be in the starting lineup for tonight’s game, and the majority of the Mariners’ games thereafter. Pat Borders will likely be demoted to Triple-A Tacoma in the very near future, as the Mariners do not need three catchers on their 25-man roster.

Miguel Olivo passed his kidney stone yesterday and should be available for today’s game.
Once he proves to the Mariners he is physically sound, Pat Borders will be demoted to Triple-A Tacoma and Seattle will promote left-handed reliever George Sherrill.

Miguel Olivo hit a solo homer and delivered an RBI single today in the win over the Braves.
Olivo, off to a .304 start in 17 games with the Padres, is going to continue to get most of the playing time behind the plate until he cools off or Ramon Hernandez returns from wrist surgery.
