Vento

Vento went 5-for-18 with an RBI while helping to fill in for Jose Guillen.

Vento, 28, was hitting .375/.435/.569 in 144 at-bats for New Orleans. He finished at .291/.365/.445 in 501 AB for Triple-A Columbus last season. Vento can handle lefties well enough to be of some use as a fifth outfielder and pinch-hitter. Even though the Nationals are short of outfielders, he probably won’t have any fantasy value.

Vento was a surprise addition to the Yankees’ 40-man roster last winter. He’s a lesser version of Shane Spencer on a team that’s debating whether to call up the real thing.

Vento spent most of last year on the Yankees’ 40-man roster even though he was never really a prospect. The 26-year-old hit .275/.333/.441 for Triple-A Columbus. He’s not going to be a candidate for a spot on the Yankee bench.

Vento, 27, hit .291/.365/.445 in 501 AB for Columbus. The Yankees already have a better right-handed hitter they’ll never use in Andy Phillips. Vento’s only at-bats will come in blowouts.

Vento is batting .351 and slugging .670 in 24 games this fall. The 25-year-old outfielder is coming off a season in which he hit .303 with 14 HR and 87 RBI between Double- and Triple-A. In a best-case scenario, the right-handed hitter could take over Shane Spencer’s old job sometime in the future.

Vento, 27, hit .291/.365/.445 in 501 AB for Triple-A Columbus last season and got his first taste of the majors with the Yankees in September. The Nationals will have better candidates for bench spots initially, but if they get desperate for a lefty masher later on, he’ll be available.
