Red Sox reassigned OF Narciso Crook, INF/OF Ryan Fitzgerald, INF’s Christian Koss and Nick Sogard and C Stephen Scott to minor league camp.
Crook is the most notable inclusion among the latest cuts for the Red Sox, but he batted just .125 (4-for-32) with two homers in 18 games this spring in Grapefruit League action. The 27-year-old outfielder, who got into four games last year for the Cubs, will presumably head to Triple-A Worcester as extra organizational outfield depth.

Narciso Crook hit two homers and drove in five runs as the Red Sox topped the Yankees 11-7 on Thursday.
The Red Sox are still undefeated this spring, having gone 9-0-3. Crook, 27, made his major league debut for the Cubs last season, going 2-for-8. He finished at .260/.345/.492 with 19 homers and 13 steals for Triple-A Iowa. He’s not a candidate to make the Red Sox out of spring training, but he’s very good Triple-A depth for a team that might need it.

Crook finally made it to the majors this past season, getting into nine contests with the Cubs, after nearly a decade in the minors. The 27-year-old outfielder, who hit 19 homers and also stole 13 bases in 101 games last year for Triple-A Iowa, provides the Red Sox with some additional outfield depth at Triple-A Worcester heading into the 2023 campaign.

Crook has been sent back to the minors with Seiya Suzuki returning from the injured list for Monday’s series opener against the Brewers. The 26-year-old outfielder got into four games, collecting a pair of hits in nine at-bats, during his brief stint in the majors.

Narciso Crook went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Thursday in the Cubs’ win over the Reds.
After spending nearly a decade in the minor leagues with Cincinnati, Crook came off the bench for Chicago during Thursday’s one-sided affair to pick up his first major-league hit with an RBI double to left field in the seventh inning. He also singled and scored a run in the ninth inning as well. The 26-year-old outfielder figures to occupy a bench role for the Cubs moving forward.

Cubs purchased the contract of OF Narciso Crook from Triple-A Iowa.
Crook will have a chance to make his MLB debut if/when he gets into the game. The 26-year-old has homered nine times, stolen 11 bases and registered an .885 OPS over 47 games with Triple-A Iowa. He’s not likely to provide fantasy significance while up for Jason Heyward; who was placed on the IL with knee inflammation on Thursday.

  • FA Right Fielder #22
Jason Heyward (knee) is out of the lineup Thursday against the Reds.
Heyward is out of the lineup, and there’s a very good chance he’s going to be placed on the injured list before Thursday’s game against Cincinnati. Narciso Crook is currently with the club, and it would only makes sense that he’s the corresponding move.

Crook hit .244/.354/.451 with 14 home runs and eight stolen bases across 347 plate appearances between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville with the Reds last season. The 26-year-old outfielder will presumably serve as organizational depth moving forward.
