Jeff Passan reports that the Blue Jays have signed Matt Shoemaker to a one-year contract. He’ll make between $3-3.5 million on the deal.

Shoemaker was non-tendered by the Angels last month following consecutive injury-shortened seasons. When he has pitched, he’s gone 8-5 with a 4.64 ERA in 21 starts with a K/BB ratio of 102/38 in 108.2 innings over the past two years. His strikeout rate went up and walk rate went down in 2018, though, so perhaps his struggles -- and his forearm injuries -- are over and there will be some better-than-expected production from the righty in Toronto.
