Rather than make an appearance against the Astros in today’s game Phillies closer Brad Lidge has been scratched with biceps soreness, according to Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told Brookover that the Phillies “just wanted to back him off for a couple days.”

Lidge was also scheduled to pitch Thursday and for now at least that appearance hasn’t been canceled.
