Brewers giving up on Prince Fielder, focusing on Jose Reyes?

Add Milwaukee to the list of teams pursuing Jose Reyes, as Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the “Brewers believe they have almost no hope for Prince Fielder and are now targeting Reyes.”

It’s not an either/or situation, of course, and odds are the Brewers will wind up with neither player.

Fielder’s return has always seemed unlikely and Milwaukee’s chances of winning a bidding war for Reyes seem slim, particularly if the Marlins are suddenly intent on spending big money.

Adding to the drama is that the Marlins have also been linked to Fielder in a few places, although with Gaby Sanchez and Logan Morrison around that doesn’t sound like much of a fit.
