Royals starter Danny Duffy will throw a light bullpen session on Sunday and is hopeful he’ll be able to rejoin the Royals’ starting rotation on Tuesday, per a report from Andy McCullough of The Kansas City Star.

Duffy gave the Royals a scare when he left last Saturday’s start against the Yankees after one pitch. He was diagnosed with inflammation of the rotator cuff in his pitching shoulder.

The 25-year-old left-hander has been the Royals’ best starter, currently sitting on a 2.42 ERA with a 108/50 K/BB ratio in 141 1/3 innings. The Royals enter Saturday night’s action just a half-game behind the Tigers for first place in the AL Central, so they need Duffy back as soon as possible.
