Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that pitcher John Danks plans to play next season.
Danks, 31, made four ineffective starts in April, then the White Sox released him in May this past season. He didn’t end up signing with another team, so he sat out the rest of the season without pitching anywhere.
Danks appeared to be on his way to a solid major league career after three solid seasons from 2008-10 and a not-terrible 2011 performance. But since 2012, Danks has a 33-60 record and a 4.92 ERA over 97 starts. As a result, if Danks does latch on with a team going into the 2017 season, he will likely do so on a minor league contract.
