Orioles minor leaguer Michael Ohlman, a 20-year-old catcher who was the team’s 11th-round draft pick in 2009, has been suspended 50 games for violating the minor league drug policy.
According to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com he tested positive for a “drug of abuse” rather than something performance-enhancing.
Ohlman is stuck at low Single-A for a third straight season and began this year on the disabled list with a shoulder injury. He hit just .224 with four homers and a .627 OPS in 105 games there last season and isn’t considered a prospect after also struggling in rookie-ball.
