The Rangers’ John Blake announced on Wednesday that the club placed outfielder Shin-Soo Choo and DH Prince Fielder on the disabled list.

Fielder, 32, is experiencing more neck discomfort. He underwent spinal fusion surgery in 2014 to repair a herniated disk in his neck. He told manager Jeff Banister he was experiencing similar symptoms to those he had prior to the surgery. Fielder will visit Dr. Drew Dossett, who performed the 2014 procedure, on Friday.

Choo, 34, is suffering from inflammation in his lower back. He started on Tuesday for the first time since July 10, the end of the first half, but went 0-for-5. Choo missed over a month between April 8 and May 20 with a strained calf, then strained his hamstring in his first game back on May 20 and wouldn’t return until June 13. Needless to say, it’s been a tough year for the veteran.

The Rangers called up Hanser Alberto and Delino DeShields from Triple-A Round Rock.
