Robinson Cano named MVP of 2017 All-Star Game
Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano drilled a solo home run to right field off of Wade Davis in the top of the 10th inning of Tuesday’s All-Star Game, helping the American League defeat the National League 2-1 for its fifth consecutive All-Star Game victory. For his contribution, Cano was named MVP of the 2017 All-Star Game.
Cano was one of seven replacements leading up to Tuesday’s action. 2017 marked his eighth nomination to the All-Star team, all in the American League. He’s the first Mariner to win All-Star Game MVP since Ichiro Suzuki in 2007. The only other Mariner to have won it was Ken Griffey, Jr. in 1992.
Entering the break, Cano was batting .275/.332/.481 with 17 home runs and 60 RBI in 346 plate appearances.
