Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that the Mariners recently scouted the Phillies’ Marlon Byrd.
Makes sense, as they could use a righty with pop. Byrd has 18 homers and has driven in 52 runs this season and has a .261/.313/.481 batting line. He’s not super expensive either, as he is on a two-year $16 million deal. And of course, Byrd could DH in Seattle.
