Red Sox OF/DH J.D. Martinez became the first player this season to reach 20 home runs, smacking a two-run home run off of the Tigers’ Artie Lewicki in the bottom of the first inning on Tuesday night. The blast broke a scoreless tie, staking the Red Sox to a 2-0 lead.

Following the homer, Martinez carries a .318/.377/.664 triple-slash line with 52 RBI and 38 runs scored in 244 plate appearances.

Martinez, who will almost certainly be named to the American League All-Star team next month, said over the weekend that he thinks only the players, not fans, should pick representatives for the All-Star Game.
