Phillies optioned RHP Seth Johnson and RHP Alan Rangel to Triple-A Lehigh Valley; reassigned RHP Nick Padilla to minor league camp.
Johnson was torched for nine runs over 2 1/3 innings last September in his big-league debut, which unsurprisingly was his lone start for the Phillies. The 26-year-old righty will open the year back at Triple-A as extra starting pitching depth.

Phillies signed RHP Nicholas Padilla to a minor league contract.
Padilla received brief callups from the Cubs in 2022 and the White Sox in 2023, but he was denied a longer look last season after missing much of the first half. He wound up with a 3.23 ERA and a 37/16 K/BB in 30 2/3 innings out of the pen for Triple-A Charlotte. Walks have always been a big issue for him, but if he could get better there, he’s talented enough to help out as a middle-leverage reliever.

White Sox reassigned RHP Nick Padilla to minor league camp.
Padilla was removed from Chicago’s 40-man roster last November and was in camp this spring as a non-roster invitee. The 27-year-old righty will open the year as extra organizational pitching depth at Triple-A Charlotte.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #61
White Sox sent RHP Nicholas Padilla outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Padilla has been shipped to the minors after passing through waivers unclaimed to free up a spot on Chicago’s 40-man roster. There’s no corresponding roster move at this time, but it could be a precursor to a potential trade or signing.

White Sox optioned RHP Nick Padilla to Triple-A Charlotte.
A corresponding move will be announced after the All-Star break — likely someone returning from the injured list. The 26-year-old hurler has posted a 5.79 ERA, 2.14 WHIP and a 6/1 K/BB ratio over 4 2/3 innings with the big league club this season.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #61
White Sox recalled RHP Nick Padilla from Triple-A Charlotte.
He’ll be taking the place of the injured Joe Kelly (elbow) in the White Sox’ bullpen. Padilla has posted a 4.91 ERA, 2.18 WHIP and 5/1 K/BB ratio over 3 2/3 innings in his limited chances with the big league club this season.
  • Relief Pitcher #61
White Sox optioned RHP Nick Padilla to Triple-A Charlotte.
Padilla departs again after throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings on Monday. He’ll probably be back next time the White Sox need a fresh arm.

White Sox recalled RHP Nick Padilla from Triple-A Charlotte.
With Lance Lynn landing on the bereavement leave list on Monday, Padilla will have the opportunity to function as a fresh arm out of the White Sox’ bullpen for a couple of days. The 26-year-oild hurler has allowed two runs in his two innings of work with the big league club so far this season.

White Sox optioned RHP Nicholas Padilla to Triple-A Charlotte.
Padilla has been sent back to the minors to make room for lefty Garrett Crochet to return to the White Sox’ bullpen on Tuesday evening. The 26-year-old righty has made just two relief appearances this season in the majors.

White Sox recalled RHP Nick Padilla off waivers from Triple-A Charlotte.
It’s always been Nicholas in the past, but since the White Sox are announcing the move under “Nick,” we’ll go with that for now. Padilla was up briefly as a 27th man in a doubleheader last month, but he didn’t pitch. He had a 3.86 ERA and a 15/11 K/BB ratio in 14 innings for Charlotte.
