Ozuna

Ozuna could have some value in the second half. He’ll play second base and shortstop at Visalia.

Ozuna, who hit .333 in nine games this spring before being reassinged to the minors last week, is just being acquired to act as insurance. He will play for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Ozuna has been out since March because of a sprained right knee and has been working at Double-A Tulsa on becoming a utility player.

Ozuna should be available tonight.

Ozuna is hitting .274/.306/.410 with 19 steals in 73 games for the Red Barons.

The White Sox say it’s so they have him available when Brian Anderson serves his five-game suspension, but if Ozuna looks passable out there it could push Anderson to Triple-A.

Emil Brown and Jermaine Dye also hit homers as the first batters of both halves of the second inning. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the first time the first four half-innings of a game have ever started with homers. Brian Roberts and Johnny Damon also hit leadoff homers in the Orioles-Yankees game on Thursday. The feat had been pulled off just twice previously this year. Boston’s Kevin Youkilis and Florida’s Hanley Ramirez did it on July 2, and Alfonso Soriano and Ramirez hit leadoff homers on July 18.

Ozuna was hurt beating out an infield single. It’s likely a day-to-day injury.

Ozuna left Friday’s game in first inning after aggravating the injury he sustained Sunday.

Ozuna hasn’t played since aggravating his hamstring injury in Friday’s game.
