Shuey

Both the GM and the pitcher say no deal involving Shuey is imminent, but Shuey, 3-1 with a 1.27 ERA, knows he’s one of the few tradeable Dodgers. He might already be gone if Raul Mondesi hadn’t gotten hurt.

''He feels good one day after he throws and not so good the next time he throws,’' manager Eric Wedge said. ''We’ll just see where he’s at.’' The Indians probably have eight relievers above Shuey on the depth chart. We wouldn’t be surprised to see David Riske or Rafael Betancourt dealt, but even if that happens, there wouldn’t necessarily be room for Shuey in the pen.

Manager Jim Tracy said that Shuey probably would face batters in a simulated game before being activated in lieu of a rehab assignment.

Barring any setbacks, Shuey will be activated Saturday.

Shuey, who will be activated Saturday, struck out one and walked one during his 26-pitch stint.

There remains no timetable for his return.

Shuey is on the 15-day DL with a sprained right knee.

Manager Jim Tracy said Shuey’s next outing for Ogden on Saturday would be scaled back from three innings to two or one.

Shuey is slated to pitch one inning Monday, two innings Wednesday and three innings Saturday, depending on pitch counts, then report to Triple-A Las Vegas for an indefinite number of appearances. Shuey tore a tendon in his pitching thumb during spring training and has yet to pitch this season. He likely won’t return for the Dodgers until around the All-Star Break.

If Shuey were at 100 percent, the Dodgers might be more willing to listen to all the offers they’re getting involving Guillermo Mota. Shuey should return in mid-July.
