Sanders was claimed off waivers last August from the division-rival Rays and never wound up making an appearance for the Orioles. The 27-year-old righty made eight relief appearances last year for Tampa Bay and was pitching well this year for Triple-A Norfolk in Baltimore’s system. It sounds like he’s been cut loose to pursue an opportunity overseas, potentially.

Sanders went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week and will remain with the Orioles as organizational relief depth. The 27-year-old righty has posted a solid 3.07 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 12/3 K/BB ratio across 14 2/3 innings (eight appearances) this season in the majors.

Sanders has been jettisoned from the Orioles’ 40-man roster to make room for the club to claim righty reliever Anthony Castro off waivers from the Guardians. There should be some interest in the 27-year-old rookie right-hander on waivers in the coming days.

Sanders was designated for assignment by Tampa Bay on Monday despite registering a cool 3.07 ERA and 12/3 K/BB ratio over his first 14 2/3 major league innings. He could be a nice addition to the O’s bullpen but will head to Triple-A Norfolk for the time being.

Sanders was up for a few games as a COVID-19 replacement player for the Rays during their road trip to Toronto. The 27-year-old rookie right-hander has allowed two runs on eight hits with a 9/3 K/BB ratio across 13 innings (seven appearances) this season at the major-league level.
