Rene Garcia was carted off following a home plate collision with Nicky Delmonico in Saturday’s exhibition game against the White Sox.
It was a scary scene as Garcia’s mask went flying during the collision. He was later put in a neck brace and stretchered off the field. Garcia was going to be sent to the minors after this weekend. You have to feel for a guy suffering a potentially serious injury in the last inning of spring training. Hopefully he’s okay.

Phillies reassigned C Rene Garcia and INFs Russ Canzler and Cord Phelps to minor league camp.
None of those three players represent much more than organizational depth, with Phelps probably having had the best chance of securing a bench spot. The team signed Garcia in November. Over seven minor league seasons with the Astros, he hit .258/.300/.335.

Brewers signed C Rene Garcia to a minor league contract.
The 25-year-old backstop spent the 2015 season in the Phillies organization, slashing .318/.332/.359 with no homers and 22 RBI in 52 games between Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He’ll presumably get an invite to spring training as well.

Phillies signed C Rene Garcia to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Garcia owns a .258/.300/.335 batting line over seven seasons in the Astros’ minor league system. The 24-year-old will function as organization depth with his new club.
