While manager Frank Robinson won’t promise that he won’t go by matchups to close out a game once in a while, for now he says ''I’ll ride him as long as I can,’' referring to Rocky Biddle as the closer.
Robinson reportedly always had Biddle in mind for the job, but he had questions about his health after Biddle missed some time early in spring with a strained piriformis muscle. He also didn’t want any of his relievers to feel shut out of the derby. If you’ve been holding off on signing Biddle because of the uncertainty, it looks safe to go for it now.

The Rays are talking to the Expos about right-hander Rocky Biddle.
The Expos are willing to move Biddle since he’s due to make about $2 million through arbitration. It’s unclear whether he or Lance Carter would close if the Rays make the move. Both are just average relievers. Carter might be a little better, but he also might be more valuable in a multi-inning setup role.

For the second time this weekend, manager Frank Robinson used Rocky Biddle in a non-save situation and the closer got hammered.
Biddle had an ERA of 2.00 before heading to the West Coast. He comes home with a 7.36, and legions of fantasy owners cursing Robinson’s name. Biddle’s job is safe, though.

Rocky Biddle threw an eight-minute bullpen session yesterday, and more long toss after the session. He said his back felt fine afterwards.
The Expos lost last night, but Biddle would have been held out anyway. Manager Frank Robinson plans to use him tonight if the opportunity arises.
