He’ll be assigned to the Astros’ new Triple-A affiliate in Sugar Land. Eades hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2019 with the Orioles and will probably be nothing more than minor league depth for Houston.

Eades registered a 2.38 ERA in 11 1/3 major league innings this year between the Twins and O’s, but his poor minor league numbers suggest that he was due for serious regression given a larger sample size.

He was claimed off waivers from the Twins earlier in the month. He will pitch in middle relief for the Orioles.

Eades tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for the Twins earlier this season, but he was sporting a rough 5.51 ERA in 50 2/3 innings at Triple-A Rochester. The 27-year-old former second-round pick will be organizational depth for the pitching-starved Orioles.

Eades worked 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief during his short stay in the major leagues. Fernando Romero has been recalled in a corresponding 25-man roster move.

The second round pick out of LSU allowed three singles, one walk, and one hit batsman in his best start of 2014. Eades profiles as a solid back of the rotation option with an average fastball, change-up, and slurvy curve ball. He is older than the average player in the Low-A Midwest league, so he could be in line for a promotion to High-A soon.

He will replace catcher Willians Astudillo on the active roster. Eades will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game. The 27-year-old had a 5.68 ERA in 16 appearances for Rochester, all but two in relief. He strikes out a lot of batters and could be effective in middle relief for the Twins.
