Meisinger

Meisinger, 29, split last season between the Diamondbacks’ Triple-A affiliate and the independent Long Island Ducks. He hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2021 with the Cubs and will serve as depth with his new organization.

Meisinger signed a minor league contract with the Diamondbacks in late March and struggled this season at Triple-A Reno, posting a lackluster 6.14 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 16/7 K/BB ratio across 14 2/3 innings (13 appearances). The 28-year-old righty made seven relief appearances last year for the Cubs and should be able to find another opportunity as extra relief depth.

Meisinger will serve as organizational relief depth for the Diamondbacks this season. The 27-year-old righty made seven relief appearances last year with the Cubs and holds a 7.26 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 30/19 K/BB ratio across 31 innings (27 appearances, one start) at the major-league level since 2018.

Meisinger has refused an outright minor-league assignment and will presumably land in a new spot this offseason. The 27-year-old righty wound up never making a big-league appearance for the Dodgers after being claimed off waivers from the Cubs in late August.

It’s has been an eventful week for the 27-year-old hurler. He was designated for assignment by the Cubs, claimed off of waivers by the Dodgers, then optioned to Triple-A by the Dodgers without having appeared in a game, and now he’s sent outright to Triple-A. He’ll continue to serve as additional bullpen depth.

Meisinger was claimed off waivers by the Cubs on August 31, but he’ll now head back to Triple-A with Andrew Vasquez having his contract purchased by the Dodgers in a corresponding move.

Jake Jewell and Meisinger were a package deal, apparently. Meisinger, 27, has yet to enjoy success in the majors with a 7.26 ERA and 30/19 K/BB ratio over 31 innings.

Meisinger recently allowed three runs over 1 1/3 innings on Friday for the Cubs, who will take this opportunity to bring in a fresh arm. The right-hander surrendered 10 runs on 11 hits over 7 1/3 innings this season.

Meisinger will join the Cubs’ bullpen ahead of Thursday’s matinee game against the Brewers, looking to make his season debut. He has a career 5.70 ERA in 23 2/3 major league innings.

The two pitchers will head to the minor league side of Cubs camp and give the team some added emergency bullpen depth. Meisinger, 26, tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief last season with the Cardinals.
