Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen indicated to reporters Saturday that Steve Cishek will be his fill-in closer.
Heath Bell is struggling mightily in the early going, so the Fish are going to use him in lower-pressure situations for a little while. Cishek, 25, has registered a dominant 0.91 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 15/6 K/BB ratio in 14 1/3 innings this season and should do well as Miami’s temporary ninth-inning man. Ryan Webb and Edward Mujica could also see some save opportunities.

According to beat reporter Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post, Ryan Webb or Edward Mujica will handle a save situation Thursday afternoon against the Giants.
Heath Bell is sporting a brutal 11.74 ERA in 7 2/3 innings this season and has also appeared in each of the Marlins’ past three games. If the Marlins decide to remove the high-priced closer completely from his current role, ninth-inning responsibilities would likely be split between Webb, Mujica and Steve Cishek.

Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen told reporters Thursday that he’s sticking with Heath Bell at closer.
“We’re a better team with Bell closing,” Guillen said. “There’s no doubt. That’s what we want. That’s what I want.” The 34-year-old right-hander has allowed 12 runs on 13 hits in 7 2/3 innings this season for an 11.74 ERA and stands just 3-for-6 in save opportunities. But the Fish are tied to him for the next three years at a whopping $27 million and apparently aren’t willing to throw in the towel until things turn really ugly. Steve Cishek, Ryan Webb and Edward Mujica will remain in setup roles for now.

Marlins optioned RHP Ryan Webb to Triple-A New Orleans.
Webb has posted a 5.50 ERA in 36 innings this season for the Fish. He will be brought back eventually.

Marlins recalled RHP Ryan Webb from Triple-A New Orleans.
Webb posted a disappointing 5.50 ERA in 36 innings for the Marlins before being sent down earlier this month. He has the stuff to be a late-inning weapon, but clearly more consistency is needed.

Ryan Webb has been a steady veteran influence on Miami’s bullpen, posting a 2.08 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 26 innings in 2013.
The bad news, for owners in holds leagues, is that Webb has only one. Such is life for Miami relievers, who inherit leads about as often as deceased investigative reporters.

MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro reports that the Marlins are open to moving right-hander Ricky Nolasco.
It’s not exactly breaking news, as Nolasco has been dangled in trade talks for three years running. The 30-year-old right-hander has a 3.61 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 67/20 K/BB ratio in 82 1/3 innings this season. He is making $11.5 million on the final year of his current deal. Ryan Webb is also believed to be available.

Marlins avoided arbitration with RHP Ryan Webb by agreeing to a one-year, $975,000 contract.
He can earn an additional $10,000 if he appears in 67 games. Webb, who was arbitration-eligible for the first time, has posted a 3.45 ERA over three and a half big league seasons.

Padres recalled RHP Ryan Webb from Triple-A Portland.
He’ll take the place on the roster for the injured Sean Gallagher. Webb, 24, had 10 scoreless innings to his credit with Portland, posting a 10/2 K/BB ratio. He was 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 28 relief appearances with the Padres last season.

    Marlins non-tendered RHP Ryan Webb.
One of the more interesting names to not be tendered a contract before Monday’s deadline. Webb doesn’t pile up the strikeouts that you’d expect from someone with his stuff, but he gets a ton of ground balls and owns a career 3.29 ERA over parts of five seasons. He should be scooped up in no time.
