Infielder Sean Rodriguez and right-hander Aaron Northcraft will be on the Marlins’ taxi squad.
They’ll travel along with the team but won’t be eligible to play without being added to the major league roster. Everyone is hoping for the best, but positive COVID-19 tests are inevitable and teams will at least try to be prepared. Rodriguez, 34, signed a minor league deal with the Marlins during the offseason while Northcraft joined the club this offseason after pitching in Triple-A with the Mariners last year. The team isn’t including a catcher on their taxi squad because they already have three on the active roster.
