Patton passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will presumably stick around with the Athletics as extra organizational relief depth.

The 35-year-old Patton made 12 appearances for Oakland, giving up seven runs in 12 1/3 innings. It seems likely that he’ll clear waivers.

The 35-year-old hurler has already made four appearances with the A’s this season — compiling a 6.75 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 1/1 K/BB ratio over 5 1/3 innings of work. He’ll add another option for A’s manager Mark Kotsay to deploy in the middle innings.

The 35-year-old hurler was designated for assignment earlier in the week, but passed through waivers unclaimed. While he has the right to refuse the outright assignment, it sounds like Patton will report to Triple-A Las Vegas where he’ll continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the A’s.

Patton has been removed from Oakland’s 40-man roster following just four relief appearances after being brought up earlier this month from Triple-A Las Vegas. The 35-year-old right-hander figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and has the option of electing free agency or accepting an outright minor league assignment.

Patton, 35, had a 4.32 ERA through six relief appearances in Triple-A. He’s had some success out of the Rangers’ bullpen over the past two seasons and will try to carve out a role in Oakland.

Patton had a 3.83 ERA in 49 relief appearances for the Rangers the last two seasons. He could get a look in the A’s pen if he pitches well in Triple-A.

Patton was pushed off the 40-man roster in Texas a few months ago and now he’s officially been cut loose from the organization. The 34-year-old right-hander had struggled to a 6.44 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 24 relief appearances (29 1/3 innings) this season at Triple-A Round Rock.

This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for Steven Duggar, who has been acquired from the Giants for Willie Calhoun. Patton, 34, holds a career 5.11 ERA in 104 total innings of work at the major league level.
