Jones got into one game last year for the Astros before claimed off waivers in mid-September by the Giants. He batted .262/.370/.453 with 12 home runs across 351 plate appearances between Triple-A Sugar Land and Sacramento. The 29-year-old slugger heads to the division-rival Angels as organizational first base depth. He’s an interesting addition for Los Angeles.

Jones was claimed off waivers from the Astros back in mid-September and has been removed from the Giants’ 40-man roster. He’ll likely become a minor league free agent rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Sacramento.
