Devil Rays re-signed RHP Tim Corcoran to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Corcoran had a 3.91 ERA in 33 relief appearances for Triple-A Durham last season. He won’t be a candidate to make the Devil Rays.

Devil Rays recalled RHP Tim Corcoran from Triple-A Durham.
Corcoran allowed one run in four innings while spending 15 days with the Rays back in June. He’ll be used in the middle innings.

Tim Corcoran will replace Seth McClung in Tampa Bay’s rotation and start Friday or Saturday.
The 28-year-old Corcoran has allowed one run and five hits in 3 1/3 innings as a reliever for the Rays. He’s unlikely to experience any success as a starter.

Devil Rays purchased the contract of RHP Tim Corcoran from Triple-A Durham.
Corcoran, who had a 5.96 ERA in 22 2/3 innings for the Rays last season, opened this year with Durham and had a 1.96 ERA in three starts and 16 relief appearances. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he’ll get the occasional save chance while Tyler Walker is out, but the 28-year-old isn’t to be picked up right now.

Tom Corcoran took a loss for the sixth straight decision on Thursday after yielding four runs -- three earned -- in six innings against the Rangers.
He gave up five hits and two walks while striking out four and throwing 56-of-100 pitches for strikes. The right-hander had recorded four wins in four straight outings earlier in the season, so his current streak is just luck evening out. The Devil Rays will probably keep Corcoran in the rotation since his 4.16 ERA is better than they can expect of any alternatives, but he’s not an option in fantasy leagues.

Tim Corcoran picked up his first major league victory by allowing one run in five innings Saturday against the Braves.
Corcoran gave up four hits, walked three and struck out two. He’ll remain in the rotation for now, and he has another easy assignment coming up against the Nationals next week. Still, he wouldn’t be a very good pickup in AL-only leagues.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher
Tim Corcoran threw seven shutout innings against the Nationals on Friday to improve to 2-0 in his brief big league career.
He gave up just three hits and struck out eight. Corcoran also pitched well in a start against the Braves last week, but the part-time reliever’s success should be more attributed to his weak opponents than his own talent. He’s not someone who figures to be much use in AL-only formats in the long-term, and he certainly isn’t an option against the Red Sox next week.

Tim Corcoran allowed two runs and four hits in 6 2/3 innings Wednesday in a win over the Red Sox.
Corcoran may be 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA, but we remain convinced that he’s not any good. American League hitters will prove it eventually. They just need to use better approaches than the Red Sox did tonight, something that shouldn’t be very difficult.

Tim Corcoran managed to get just one batter out before being lifted from his start Tuesday night.
He was shelled for seven runs, five hits and two walks as his ERA soared to 4.75. Corcoran has been shut out of the win column since July 9. He’s been better than expected as a starter, but his future likely lies in middle relief.

Braves signed RHP Tim Corcoran to a minor league contract.
Corcoran hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2007 and spent last season with the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate. The 34-year-old right-hander is merely organizational depth.
