The deal includes an invitation to spring training. Wood, 29, posted a 2.19 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 67/23 K/BB ratio over 70 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis in 2012. He’ll compete for a role in the Twins’ bullpen.

Tim Wood has been shut down from his rehab assignment after developing more soreness in his pitching shoulder.

He’ll be examined at the Twins’ Triple-A affiliate in Rochester. Wood is coming back from a rotator cuff strain and had allowed six runs over his last three rehab appearances.

An MRI taken Wednesday on Tim Wood’s right shoulder showed no signs of major structural damage.

Wood is headed to Minnesota for a second look. The 30-year-old has posted an ugly 8.68 ERA in 9 1/3 innings this season between High-A Fort Myers and Triple-A Rochester. He is currently on the MLB disabled list.
