Cubs RHP Tyson Miller elected free agency.
Miller did a nice job for the Cubs in 2024 but never really found his footing at the Triple-A level in 2025, posting an uninspiring 6.27 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and a 36/34 K/BB ratio over 37 1/3 innings in his 31 appearances. Given his prior success at the major league level it shouldn’t be hard for Miller to find another opportunity on the open market this winter.

Cubs sent RHP Tyson Miller outright to Triple-A Iowa.
The 29-year-old hurler was activated from the 60-day injured list and designated for assignment last week, but he passed through waivers without being claimed and will continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Cubs.

Cubs activated RHP Tyson Miller from the 60-day injured list and designated him for assignment.
The 29-year-old hurler had been working his way back from a left hip impingement. He made 12 appearances on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa, posting a 2.77 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and an 11/9 K/BB ratio over 13 innings of work. There’s a chance that a bullpen-needy club could take a flier on him on waivers.

Cubs transferred RHP Tyson Miller to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move frees up a spot on Chicago’s 40-man roster for top prospect Moises Ballesteros ahead of Tuesday’s game in Miami. Miller hit the injured list back in late March with a left hip impingement.

Cubs placed RHP Tyson Miller on the 15-day injured list with a left hip impingement.
Miller won’t be part of Chicago’s season-opening relief mix. There should be an official return timetable in the coming days, but there’s a decent chance he’s back before the end of April.

Tyson Miller will open the season on the injured list with a left hip impingement.
It’s unclear when Miller suffered the injury, but he won’t be part of Chicago’s season-opening relief mix.

Keegan Thompson struck out the only batter he faced to earn the save on Friday against Nationals.
To get a sense of the calamity that is the Cubs current bullpen, Thompson entered this game for Drew Smyly, who was put on waivers earlier this week, who relieved Tyson Miller after allowing three runs and turning this into a save situation. Back from injury and the most effective option, there’s a good chance Thompson is called upon for the Cubs’ next save opportunity.

Colton Brewer and Drew Smyly combined to blow a two-run lead and give up three runs in the ninth as the Cubs lost to the Giants on Monday.
Better umpiring would have helped the Cubs here, but it’s not like either Brewer or Smyly impressed tonight. The Cubs wanted Brewer to close over Héctor Neris, but he gave up hits to two of the three batters he faced. Smyly entered at that point and allowed a single and three walks. One of those was intentional, but the last, which pushed the winning run across, certainly wasn’t. With Neris out of the mix for the moment, Tyson Miller might be the current favorite for saves in the Cubs pen. He got the final two outs of the eighth before exiting tonight.

Cubs acquired RHP Tyson Miller from the Mariners in exchange for INF Jake Slaughter.
Miller is heading back to his former organization after being designated for assignment by Seattle. The right-hander had a 3.09 ERA before being waived, and he’ll have a chance to help the Chicago bullpen in a similar capacity.

The Cubs are acquiring recently DFA’d reliever Tyson Miller from the Mariners, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Going back to Seattle will be infielder Jake Slaughter. Miller, who debuted with the Cubs in 2020, had a 3.09 ERA in nine appearances before the Mariners dropped him from the roster.
