Diamondbacks RHP Joe Ross elected free agency.
Ross cleared waivers over the weekend and will head out onto the open market to pursue opportunities elsewhere rather than stick around at Triple-A Reno. The 32-year-old reliever was lit up for eight runs over 3 2/3 innings across three appearances for Arizona prior to being designated for assignment last Friday.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #83
    Tigers released LHP Colin Poche.
Poche, 32, missed the bulk of spring training due to an undisclosed injury. He’s now free to explore opportunities on the open market.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #51
    Tigers released RHP Phil Bickford.
Bickford spent the spring in major league camp with the Tigers but never actually pitched due to a triceps strain. The 30-year-old hurler is now free to explore other opportunities if he so chooses.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #52
    Mariners released RHP Ryan Loutos.
Loutos had a 3.4 ERA for Triple-A Memphis in 2024 and managed a 3.50 ERA between three different Triple-A teams in 2025. He’ll look to catch on elsewhere. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that the 27-year-old could be a useful bullpen piece at some point.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #27
Trevor Bauer has signed with the independent Long Island Ducks.
It’s Indy ball for Bauer after his latest stint in Yokohama ended with a 4-10 record and 4.51 ERA in 133 2/3rds innings pitched. The 35-year-old has not pitched in MLB since 2021 and looks very unlikely to ever return following his suspension through the Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. He has been eligible to pitch for MLB teams since 2023.
  • FA 1st Baseman #36
    Nationals released 1B Matt Mervis.
Mervis appeared to be crowded out of Triple-A Rochester by the acquisition of Curtis Mead. Mervis, still just 27, will seek new employment after playing just one game for Rochester in 2026.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #40
    Giants released RHP Brent Honeywell.
Honeywell was either given his walking papers or opted out of his minor league pact with the Giants, but either way, he’s now free to find a new organization to play for. The former top prospect is almost assuredly looking at another minor league contract with whatever organization deems him worthy.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #22
The Dodgers have brought Clayton Kershaw on as a special assistant with the organization.
Kershaw’s role with the club is mostly unknown at this point and will reportedly remain fluid, but this is a fantastic next step for the legend. Having someone with Kershaw’s experience in the building will always be a plus and it’s wonderful that he can still fulfill a role with the only team he’s ever known even after his playing career ended last season.
  • FA Left Fielder #33
Angels re-signed utility man Chris Taylor to a minor league contract.
Taylor was with the Angels in spring training as a non-roster invite, but opted out of his contract when he didn’t make their Opening Day roster. Now, he’s back and will report to Triple-A Salt Lake City. He hit .179 across 90 plate appearances with Anaheim last season and will likely only be called upon if there are multiple injuries to their major league outfield options.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #60
Angels re-signed RHP Hunter Strickland to a minor league contract.
This is the second time the Angels have brought Strickland back into their organization on a minor league deal since the beginning of February. The 37-year-old had a 3.27 ERA in 22 innings for them in the first half of last season before shoulder inflammation shut him down for the remainder of the year. He will report to Triple-A Salt Lake City be organizational depth for the club.
