Chulk, outstanding in Double-A last year, has a 5.28 ERA in six starts for Syracuse. Top prospect Jason Arnold was called up to Syracuse from Double-A to replace him and will make his debut tonight.

Chulk (three runs allowed in eight innings), who has out pitched Aquilino Lopez who was demoted instead, will remain in the Jays bullpen for the time being. The right-hander has his fastball up to 93-95 MPH, up from last year, when it barely reached 91 MPH, and has been receptive to some tinkering with his delivery on the mound.

Brian Tallet and Francisco Rosario both should have gone before Chulk, who had allowed one run in five innings since returning to the majors on June 10. If the Jays don’t want him, there are likely several teams that would be pleased to take him off their hands.

Chulk had a 2.21 ERA in 20 1/3 innings for Syracuse. He should spend the rest of the year in the Toronto pen and be rather effective.

Chulk has a 3.27 ERA in 11 innings since being demoted. He might rejoin the Toronto bullpen within the next few weeks.

The Brewers will move Chris Narveson (shoulder surgery) to the 60-day disabled list in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Chulk, 33, owns a 4.33 ERA over 252 appearances in the majors and will function in a middle relief role.

Chulk made seven relief appearances with the Brewers, but struggled with command issues and seems likely to go through waivers unclaimed. The Brewers purchased the contract of Juan Perez in a corresponding move.

Chulk was designated for assignment by the Brewers this weekend after struggling with his control over seven relief appearances. He remains organizational depth.

The 33-year-old pitched well at Triple-A this year but posted a 10.00 ERA in seven appearances with the Brewers. Needless to say, he won’t exactly be a hot commodity this winter.
