Red Sox signed OF Vladimir Ascensio.
The deal is reportedly for $1 million. Asensio is seen as a “hit over power” hitter with some sneaky pop. He isn’t an overly large player, but he has tremendous athleticism and quickness, which should allow him to stick in center field. He also trained with the same club that produced Miguel Bleis, who was Boston’s top international signing in 2021 and currently ranks as the organization’s No. 5 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
