Toffey

Toffey was up with the big league club for their series against the Blue Jays in Toronto, but he did not appear in a game. He’ll return to his regular role with the IronPigs where he’s slashing .266/.385/.438 with three homers, 22 RBI and nine swipes in 58 games.

Toffey, 27, will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game. He has slashed .266/.385/.438 with three home runs and nine stolen bases in 58 games played this season at the Triple-A level.

Toffey was picked up by the Giants last summer in a trade with the Mets for lefty Anthony Banda. The 27-year-old infielder hit .217/.355/.383 with eight homers in 217 plate appearances last year between Double-A and Triple-A in the Mets and Giants systems.

Toffey, 26, has hit just .178/.317/.386 at Double-A Binghamton this season. He was acquired from the A’s back in 2018 in the Jeurys Familia trade.

Toffey was a fourth-round pick of the A’s in the 2017 MLB Draft and was ranked as the No. 17 prospect in the Oakland system by MLB.com at the time of the trade. He’d spent all of the 2018 season with High-A Stockton, batting .244/.357/.384 in 48 games. It’s a nice flyer for the Mets in exchange for the last few months of Familia’s services.
