Mets returned RHP Zach Greene to the Yankees.
Greene went unclaimed on outright waivers and has been returned to the Yankees. The 26-year-old righty was selected by the Mets last December in the Rule 5 Draft and wasn’t going to make their season-opening roster.

Mets placed RHP Zach Greene on outright waivers.
Greene was plucked from the Yankees with the 23rd pick of December’s Rule 5 draft. If he passes through waivers unclaimed, the Mets would then have to offer him back to the Yankees for $50,000. The right-hander has struggled during his time in Grapefruit League action, giving up seven runs in just 4 2/3 innings of work.

Mets selected RHP Zach Greene from the Yankees with the 23rd pick in the Rule 5 Draft.
An eighth-round pick back in 2019, Greene pitched effectively for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2022 with a 96/32 K/BB ratio and 3.48 ERA over 68 1/3 innings in 48 appearances. The right-hander will have to pitch well to earn a spot in the Mets’ bullpen, but he’ll be given that opportunity in the Grapefruit League.
