SH Rallycross/DRR announced today that Nelson Piquet Jr. will drive the WIX Filters machine at the Red Bull Global Rallycross Seattle race September 16-17 in Seattle, WA.

Piquet Jr., who has contested the last two RBGRC events for the team, will pilot the No. 07 WIX Filters – SH Rallycross/DRR Ford Fiesta ST entry on the new Seattle circuit, Evergreen Speedway. The Seattle event returns to the RBGRC schedule after a one-year hiatus.

“I am excited to be representing WIX Filters again,” said Piquet Jr. “It is an awesome company and the people are fantastic to work with. We’ve enjoyed a lot of success together the last two years and hopefully we can have another strong outing this weekend in Seattle.”

WIX, which has been a sponsor of the team since its debut at the 2013 Los Angeles X Games, was the primary sponsor at this year’s Daytona race and will be the primary for the first race of the season-ending double-header in Los Angeles. In addition, WIX serves as a full season major associate sponsor providing filters and technical support to the team.

“Nelson is a tremendous driver with global reach who has had a lot of success in the Red Bull Global Rallycross series,” said Jennifer Gibson, brand manager for WIX Filters. “We’re excited to see him back in the WIX Filters car and look forward to another successful result in Seattle.”

Piquet Jr., has driven for the team full time the last two seasons finishing fourth in the championship both times. He returned to Red Bull GRC competition this year with SH Rallycross/DRR to defend his Washington D. C. title. The win last year in D. C. was both his and the team’s first RBGRC victory. Piquet Jr. also competed at the 2016 Atlantic City race. The Seattle race will be his last of the 2016 season before resuming Formula E.
