The Stanley Cup joins Borg-Warner Trophy on Indy’s iconic yard of bricks

Two iconic trophies walk into a bar, talk shop and share championship winning stories.

At least, that’s how the conversation would go if the Borg-Warner Trophy and the Stanley Cup were humans, rather than the pinnacle of their respective sports - the Verizon IndyCar Series and National Hockey League, respectively.

Regardless of how it came together, there was still a cool moment last night to see these two trophies united, next to each other, on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s iconic yard of bricks.

Lord Stanley’s Cup was in town courtesy of the Indy Fuel, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.

And it brought together the Cup, born in 1893, with the Borg-Warner, a more youthful trophy having only been introduced in 1936.
