According to Eric Pincus of Hoopsworld.com, to reach the NBA’s minimum required payroll the 76ers will need to spend roughly $8 million after signing their first-round picks.
Once Nerlens Noel and Michael Carter-Williams are under contract, Philly could sign second-round picks Furkan Aldemir or Arsalan Kazemi. But even then they’ll need to either commit to more salary via free agency or trades, or pay their own players the difference between their payroll and the $52.8 million league-minimum threshold.
  • Power Forward
Arsalan Kazemi is still hoping to play the 2015-16 season with the 76ers.
The Sixers are thinking about sending Kazemi overseas for the season, but Kazemi is hoping his Summer League play lands him a spot on the 76ers 15-man roster. "[Sam Hinkie] knows what I can do and what I can bring to the table,” Kazemi said. “I’m just trying to do that to perfection. I’m hoping that it leads to being a part of this team.” The 25-year-old faces an uphill battle to stick in the states this season, but his Summer League averages of 5.5 points and 9.5 rebounds aren’t hurting his case.
  • Power Forward
    76ers release F Arsalan Kazemi.
He reportedly wants to try out for the Hawks instead. Kazemi did have a nice summer league, but he is unlikely to make an NBA team.
  • Power Forward
    Hawks sign F Arsalan Kazemi.
Kazemi’s contract is a training camp deal, so it’s not a sure thing that he will be on the Hawks final roster. We’ll keep an eye on his status throughout the preseason, but fantasy owners can feel free to ignore Kazemi in drafts.
  • Power Forward
Arsalan Kazemi has agreed to a one-year contract with the 76ers.
The terms of the deal are unclear at this point, but it’s likely nothing more than a training camp deal. Even if he makes the team, it’s unlikely Kazemi emerges as a fantasy asset playing behind Nerlens Noel and Richaun Holmes in Philly.
  • Power Forward
The Rockets claimed Arsalan Kazemi off waivers.
He was with the 76ers two weeks ago, joined the Hawks last week, and was waived on Saturday. Kazemi probably won’t make the team.
  • Power Forward
    Hawks waive F Arsalan Kazemi.
He wanted to try out for the Hawks after joining the 76ers. That might have been a bad idea.
  • Power Forward
    Rockets waive F Arsalan Kazemi.
He was picked up off waivers and has now been cut by three teams in the past month. Kazemi might be headed overseas.
  • Power Forward
The 76ers selected Oregon C Arsalan Kazemi at No. 54 overall, making him the first Iranian player ever drafted in the NBA.
The pick was acquired from the Wizards in the deal for Glen Rice Jr. Kazemi is a high-energy player who grabbed 10.0 boards while shooting 59.5 percent from the field as a senior, but even with the rebuilding Sixers he’s unlikely to make a dent in fantasy leagues.
  • Power Forward
The Sixers are considering sending second-round pick Arsalan Kazemi overseas for the upcoming season.
The team would keep his rights and his contract would not count against the cap or luxury tax. Philly would likely take another look at the 23-year-old next year.
