The 2010 second-round pick could see some occasional spot duty, but isn’t likely to crack the Bucks’ rotation right now.

Hobson is coming off of two major hip surgeries and is no way a guarantee to remain in the fold long-term. He’ll battle for a spot at the end of the bench and obviously is not fantasy relevant at this time.

Hobson was waived by the Bucks but is hoping to return to the NBA with another team via the D-League route.

With the logjam in the front court for the Bucks, this is not that big of a surprise. It may take an injury or two for Hobson to make it back to the Bucks.

Hobson was recalled a couple of weeks ago and could be on the shuttle between Fort Wayne and Milwaukee all season long. The 2010 second-round pick has appeared in five games for the Bucks this season, averaging 0.8 points per game.

Hobson has bounced between the Bucks and the D-League all season and this move should have no impact on your fantasy team.

While it’s possible this could be in response to the sudden benching of Stephen Jackson, it’s also possible the two are unrelated.

The deal is not expected to include an ‘NBA out’ clause, but Hobson could still sign with an NBA team after the CBA season ends. He played in the D-League for the past two seasons, posting 9.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game last year as sixth-man for the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The 26-year-old small forward has played 50 games in the D-League and only five games in the NBA since being drafted in 2011. His new contract includes opt-out clauses in case his play in Brazil catches the attention of a team in the NBA or EuroLeague.

Hobson won’t hire an agent and has until May 8th to pull his name from the draft, only likely if he’s not satisfied with his projected position. He helped New Mexico win a school-record 30 games this season, leading the team in scoring (15.9 points), rebounds (9.3) and assists (4.6) before a wrist injury slowed him in the NCAA tournament.
