The Raptors have waived Dewan Hernandez.
This decision comes as no surprise, as Hernandez played sparingly last season and the Raptors were facing a salary guarantee deadline. Had he been on the roster come November 29, Hernandez’s contract for the 2020-21 season would have been fully guaranteed. Hernandez played in six games for the Raptors last season, averaging 2.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.2 steals per appearance.

  • Dewan Hernandez (ankle) finished Tuesday’s scrimmage with one assist in five minutes off the bench.
Hernandez made just four, brief appearances for the Raptors during the regular season, and we likely won’t see him at all once the games matter. He’s healthy, though.

  • Dewan Hernandez, who has been sidelined since December with a right ankle injury, is expected to be available for the Raptors in Orlando.
This doesn’t mean we’ll see him on the court though as he’s currently the 4th-string center. Hernandez has just 11 total minutes under his belt entering the restart.

  • Dewan Hernandez (right ankle sprain) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against Sacramento.
Hernandez hasn’t appeared in a game since before Christmas due to the injury, and he wasn’t in the rotation when healthy.
  • Dewan Hernandez (right ankle) will not play on Wednesday vs. the Nets.
He’s been out since Dec. 24 with the ankle injury, but he’s not a part of the rotation anyway.
  • Dewan Hernandez was seen in a walking boot on Wednesday.
Hernandez has been a negligible part of the rotation in Toronto this season, although they could use him at the moment with Marc Gasol (hamstring) and Pascal Siakam (groin) out. However, he doesn’t appear to be close to a return, so he’s safe to leave on the waiver wire in all settings.
  • Dewan Hernandez (right ankle sprain) has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game vs. the Celtics.
No fantasy impact to note here, as Hernadez is not a part of the Raptors regular rotation. He has appeared in just four games this season.
  • Dewan Hernandez has agreed to a partially guaranteed three-year rookie deal with the Raptors.
The 59th pick in the 2019 Draft had an impressive Summer League, averaging 12.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 dimes and 0.8 blocks. He’s projected to be the fourth center on the depth chart as it stands though, so he’s not looking at minutes right out of the gate.
  • Dewan Hernandez double-doubled with 16 points, 11 rebounds, a block and a 3-pointer in Tuesday’s Summer Leagues win over the Knicks.
He was taken with the 59th pick in the draft and has some baggage after being ineligible last season, but the Miami product looked great tonight. He’s just trying to make the Raptors final roster.
  • With the penultimate pick, the Raptors took C Dewan Hernandez at No. 59 in the NBA Draft.
Hernandez was declared ineligible last season for the University of Miami over a hotel room, so his long nightmare is over. He’ll try to make the Raptors as a backup center.
