Ding Yanyuhang underwent arthroscopic surgery to his right knee on Tuesday.
Ding had been playing for the Mavs’ G-League squad, but will now miss the next handful of weeks. He probably won’t get a call-up to the NBA the season.

    Mavs waive F Ying Yanyuhang.
Over in China this week, coach Rick Carlisle said the team is hopeful they could get him on the G League team, and that the Mavs could help him rehab his knee issues.
  • Small Forward
Ding Yanyuhang (right knee tendinitis) is unlikely to suit up for the next two preseason games in China.
Yanyuhang, the MVP of the CBA over the past two years, will unfortunately not be able to take the court in his home country as he’s still yet to make it through a single practice due to the knee issue. We don’t anticipate him earning consistent minutes in Dallas, so he’s safe to leave undrafted everywhere.

The Mavericks are expected to sign veteran Chinese forward Ding Yanyuhang this summer.
President of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said the plan is to bring Yanyuhang over for summer league and training camp, so it could be a non-guaranteed deal. The 23-year-old forward was the MVP in the Chinese Basketball Association this season, averaging 23.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists. There is a path to minutes in Dallas with the Mavericks rebuilding, so Yanyuhang is worth keeping an eye on during the summer league.

Ding Yanyuhang will not play in summer league.
Boo! He was the darling of summer league last year and he’s been rolling overseas. The Nets would’ve played him a bunch, but perhaps his minor injury kept him from playing.

The Mavericks have signed Ding Yanyuhang to a deal.
Dingsanity! Yanyuhang is a star in China and also had a memorable Summer League with the Mavericks in 2017. The 6'7" wing averaged 26 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals with the Shandong Golden Stars, but he’ll likely have to impress in training camp to crack the 15-man roster.
