Eric Williams missed a chance to play last night while he was back in the locker-room having a tooth fixed. Williams had a crown knocked off, leaving the bench to get it repaired. ''We actually called his name to go into the game, but he wasn’t feeling well and was in the back,’' said coach Sam Mitchell.

Eric Williams is expected to miss at least one more game with a hyperextended right knee.

“I have to wait for the swelling to go down and, hopefully, the bone bruise will heal at the same time,” Williams said. “We’ll see in the next few days.” Williams plans on testing the knee tomorrow, but he probably won’t play against the Nets.

Williams has one year left on his deal at $5.54 million. ''I like Eric Williams, but we have to manage the cap space,’' head of basketball operations Danny Ainge said. Ainge also said he won’t move quickly to re-sign Walter McCarty, who can become a free agent.
